Borrowing & Renewing

Accounts

Borrowing of print materials is only available to on-site patrons, staff, faculty, and students with an active library account.

Borrowing Materials

To borrow items from the USSOCOM Library, patrons may visit the circulation desk and a staff member will check them out to you. The library also has a self-checkout kiosk located by the main entrance. Patrons will need to have their library card number in order to self-checkout.
The borrowing limit is 10 books total at one time.

Loan Periods
Books and audiobooks have an initial loan period of 4 weeks, with 3 possible renewals for a total of 3 months (overdue or items which have a hold placed on them may effect renewal availability and time frames).

Current periodical issues are for in-library use only. Past issues can be checked out for a two week period.

The checkout period on Interlibrary Loan (ILL) books is determined by the lending library. In order to remain in good standing and maintain this service it is essential that ILL books be returned on time. Renewals should be requested no later than 3 days prior to the due date.

Renewals
Items renewed on or prior to the due date will have an extension period of 3 weeks and may be renewed twice for a total borrowing time of 3 months.
If a hold has been placed, renewals are not allowed and the item should promptly be returned by the due date.
Renewals on overdue items will be calculated from the original checkout date.

Holds
Holds can be placed on items which are available or currently checked out. If available library staff will pull the item and hold it for you. If it is currently checked out, it will be held upon return. Hold items are kept at the circulation desk for 5 days.
